Why does Bush insist on fighting an unwinnable war in Iraq, over which he now has no control?

Isn't a defeat spread out over many years even more humiliating? You can be certain more innocent Iraqi's will die, and therefore more terrorists will be created, and sworn to revenge. Not to mention the increasing number of dead and maimed American soldiers. Why does Bush insist on fighting an unwinnable war in Iraq, over which he now has no control?
Unfortunately the real reason for the invasion is never discussed but is doomed to failure. The implementation of the largest base outside of the US and Europe will NEVER be allowed to exist on Muslim lands. The only way that can be attained is if the area is nuked and there are no living Iraqis, Persians or Arabs to fight it.

Also the theft of oil was once compelling, but that has also been seen through. It is a lose, lose situation for not only Bush and America but the poodle in Downing Street who has also brought the British people into disrepute. What these fools of history failed to realize is that we are now living in a totally different world from that of the Colonial Past of 150 years ago.Why does Bush insist on fighting an unwinnable war in Iraq, over which he now has no control?
War is business
Arrogance and stupidity, wish I had a more elaborate answer, but that's the simple fact.

He just wants to finish what he started...which means, not leaving the people he sought to liberate hanging with the mess he created!
Because he %26amp; his buddies are thugs
To perpetuate violence, so that his ';war on terror'; can continue unchecked for years to come much like the ';war against communism'; of the fifties! History is repeating itself. War on communism begat Al queada begat never ending war on terrorism to line the coffers of the corporate masters of america.
because he is getting richer and richer out of this unwinnable war in Iraq
Because the war in Iraq is not about oil or a war on terror. It is really all about the winning of THIS secret ';prize';!...

Gringo i think you may be partly right on this one
He is a moron. He doesn't care about American soldiers, the war will bring him more money and thats all he is interested in.
Well, he wants to be remembered for something. Just like how Lincoln had the Civil War, Bush is trying to have his name go down in history books. It's an ego thing.
My best guess is he wants to try and save face and has NO IDEA how to get out of it!!!
sorry, can;t help you but i can tell you i agree. but everytime i voice my opinion about the war i get reported. i guess that's what i get for serving
his ego and big oil.
It's a war on terrorism and it's kept our counrty safe so far.
So if we pull out now all in Iraq will be great and peaceful?

It is getting bad over there and it is the fault of the liberals here.

The purges in Iraq have started and you have not yet seen the deaths yet 2 to 3 million will be killed if we run.
That is the million dollar question everyone else wants to know, unfortunately he is the only one that knows that answer, and i have a funny feeling he don't even know!
Because he don`t know the difference between a war and a occupation.
that's what happens when you give power to ignorance !
Because he is a ';WAR PRESIDENT'; He wants American soldiers to play referee while the Sunnis and the Shiites play civil war.
He and his friends are making Billion$. How is that not winning???

Go big Red Go
It's all about pride, money and family affairs...

Someday, MrPresident will have to face his failure and and try to live the rest of his life with blood-covered hands.
You're right. Bush is after oil and money, nothing more, nothing less.
Yes. He is blinded by his misdirected over-confidence.
Gringo: good question, thoughtfully put, and about two years late in the asking, but better late than never.

Stephanie: wow...someone's able to parrot her professors.

If anyone here had an answer half as well-reasoned as the question, we'd be one tiny step closer to resolution. Knee-jerk emotional statements just don't lead anywhere productive. Now go ahead, nail me with thumbs-down. I know that's what comes next for anyone who dares to disagree with the received wisdom here...I'm actually looking forward to it, because it'll prove me right.
