Why are we charged for incoming text messages, when we have no control over if we want to accept it or not??

I don't understand how phone companies can get away with charging people 15 cents for an incoming text message. What if I don't like the person sending me a text, or if someone sent the text to me by accident....why should I have to pay for it? I didn't ask to be texted. Why are we charged for incoming text messages, when we have no control over if we want to accept it or not??
cell phone companies are not really out for our convenience, they are a business and want to make money. you should look for a plan that includes unlimited texting, either to or from. we have the family plan with t-mobile and there are 4 of us and it costs $19.98 a month. (for our unlimited texting plan) I have two college age kids and it has saved us a ton of money. talk to your carrier. good luck to you.Why are we charged for incoming text messages, when we have no control over if we want to accept it or not??
Text messaging is a service that most providers offer unless requested otherwise. You can request for your text messaging service to be blocked. This means that you won't be able to send or receive text messages at all. I know that this block feature is free with Verizon Wireless. (not sure who your provider is)
yeah i hate that, i think people in north america (assuming thats where u are too) are ripped off by cellphone companies. In europe u dont get charged for incoming text or incoming phone calls and u dont have to pay extra for things like caller id or voicemail...i guess if people keep using the service , then the companies will keep charging these prices
Because they are ******* bastard leeches trying to suck us of all of are hard earned money.
You can ask your service provider to block ALL text messages from your account.
What country are you in and which phone network are you on ? sounds illegal to me......I know there are some scams that text you and automatically charge you a set amount but these are activated by you texting in to answer questions etc. They should have a stop clause so youll have to text them yourself to stop the incoming texts. Theyre skipping along the edge of the law when they hide the facts from you in the small print, and yes its just another example of corporate rip offs all round the globe, so much for that great thing called capitalism.
